The famous Diamond Beach. A few hundred yards away from this beach is a lagoon filled with icebergs large and small that eventually make their way out to sea where they are then washed up onto the shore of Diamond Beach. Every day there are new chunks of ice of all sizes replacing the ice from days before.

Joso High Bridge
The historic Joso Bridge spans the river canyon and is still an active Union Pacific railroad bridge.Built between 1910 and 1914, this bridge shortened the route between Hinkle and Spokane significantly but at a high cost to the railroad - both monetarily and through the loss of life during construction. The bridge has 55 spans and is 3920 feet long and is the longest and highest bridge in the Union Pacific system. It also stands about 261 feet above the bottom of the Snake River, but once Lower Monument Dam was constructed in 1968 water submerged the lower portion of the bridge piers leaving only 194â² between the top of the bridge and the surface of the river.

Heart of Gold
This image was taken in the sand dunes of Death Valley at first light. The sun was just moving above the horizon and shed it's light on selective dunes only. Minutes later, all of the cool shadows were filled in with harsh direct sunlight. The desert is definitely a magical place.

Dune Maker
In the distance a sand storm was headed my way. When I started out in these dunes in the late afternoon I knew there was a storm coming but had no idea just what it would bring. Mother Nature brought 40 mph winds and wielded a natural sand blasting torch to every square foot of space I set foot on. This image was captured an hour before the high winds and sandblasting started in earnest. Amazing experience!
